You are 97% English.
Congratulations! You may now take your place as a subject of Her Majesty.
"And did those feetIn ancient times,Walk upon England's mountains green? And was the holy Lamb of GodIn England's pleasant pastures seen?"
Well, no, but it's a cracking good tune.
How English are you?

... that quiz was quite tricky in places, actually...!
Ok, so how come you're 97% and I'm only 90%? What did I get wrong? I'm appalled, I've always thought of myself as most English! Bum.
I'm not sure where I lost 3%! Anyway, perhaps we'd better go through the answers. The one I wasn't sure of was the unofficial national anthem.... but I think I guessed that right.
Jerusalem?
I thought my faux pas may have been the tea question. I put milk in first, perhaps I should take it with a slice of lemon?
I put milk first too... and I also said Jerusalem... I'm going back to the quiz. Back in a Roly Mo
Ok. I think I see the error of your ways - she said, pompously. Big Ben's a clock. But how you get 100% I do not know. The question about the Blitz is a bit ambiguous.
... sorry. not a clock. A bell, for heaven's sake!
I thought the Blitz was London's finest moment. I knew Big Ben was the bell. (Were you on the London Trip from Scartho Middle that mum organised? Scarred for life, me.)
What else was there? William and Mary? They were Monarchs.
I want to be more English!!
Ruth, I want to know what the other 3% of you is!
I got 97% too - I identified the Beatles as Scousers - I've tried changing a couple of other answers, but can't get higher (apart from age and gender - maybe it's those?!).
Hope your poorlies are feeling better. Adam has gone down with something fluey (hot and achey as well as snotty and coughing). Still, I get to run away to work - John's going to look after him :-)
I'm glad to have you posting again :-)
Hi Mary-Beth (I'm glad you haven't given up on me !)
It's funny you know. I think that the extra 3% of me is an error on the part of the quiz-writer. But, in fact, it's actually quite accurate. I've traced my family tree way back and discovered about 300 ancestors. All of them were from Yorkshire and Cumbria (ie England), except one - who was born in Scotland!
Hi Anne - my two seem right as rain today. I, on the other hand, am feeling decidely sore-throaty. Hope yours are better soon and let's drink to calpol!
Glad your little ones are feeling better, sorry you now have it!
Yes, Calpol is marvellous stuff. Even useful for adults that can't swallow hard things. (Don't ask how I know, I would have tried anything at the time!)
Sending get well soon thoughts xx
... and thank you for not commenting on my maths! (It was too early in the morning for percentages!!)
Sorry, but the calpol: I need to know more! Please tell me, for example, how high a dose you took - I mean it's kind of weight based isn't it (mental note: careful, Ruth, this might sound as if you are being rude about Louise's weight.... not at all what I intend) - but how many spoonfuls would an adult take in order for calpol to take effect? (I'm not going to do the maths - see above!!!)
I have been tempted, I must confess - it smells gorgeous!
Well, for a child, yes, it is weight ratio that counts.
I was taking infant calpol, 'cos I didn't have any 6+ handy (?!?!) which is 120 mg per 5 ml, (6+ is 250 mg per 5 ml and an adult dose is two to four 5 ml spoons) so I took four 5 ml spoons, which kept me safely within the limits, although I could have taken six and was just enough to take the edge of the pain in my throat, (caused by a very sharp chip gashing my throat on it's way down. Careless, I know.)
Ogh - sharp chips. Sounds really painful. Thanks for the calpol guidance notes!
Obviously my Canadian-ness is showing I only received 32% for my score.
I didn't know Big Ben was the bell.. Neat!
